Meeting the Bride and Groom and Their Family

Lipton & Lucy - Your happy photographers!

We love meeting the bride and groom and their families. We all discover if we like each other enough to participate in the wedding together. After all, we spend a lot of time together. We get up close and personal. It’s important to like each other.

Some people want only to get a quote online with no meeting of us at ShadeTree Production. I say, ‘What’s the point?’ People who live in Sri Lanka can definitely come to visit us, meet us, decide if they like our personalities, see our work in person and get a quote designed especially for their special day.

People who are out of the country and have to plan everything online spend a lot of time ‘talking’ to us; chatting, skyping and Viber calling. We get to know each other over time.

Speaking of personalities – I’ve heard many stories about photographers being bossy and rude and just plain unlikable. IMHO the bride and groom need to have friendly photographers, and even fun ones (like us!). I once saw a dresser make the bride cry – how can that be? I’ve heard many stories about photographers scolding the couple if they don’t pose the way they are told to. Come on!

Everything on the special day itself should be special. Happy. Stress free. That’s why we suggest that the couple designate a wedding CEO; a person who can make things happen so that the bride or the groom is not constantly on the phone fixing problems. Wedding planners are good for that. Sans a wedding planner, a good bossy family member is the perfect wedding CEO.

There’s a lot to think of before the wedding – during the wedding the bride and groom shouldn’t have to think, just enjoy!

Crazy Fun Post-Wedding Shoot!

Manju and Jeshan decided they wanted a post-wedding shoot, because their wedding photos (by another photographer) didn’t knock their socks off – so they contacted Lipton to do their post-wedding shoot!

“Of course,’ said Lipton. “It’ll be fun!”

With Lipton in tow, Manju and Jeshan headed to Blue Water Hotel in Wadduwa. Wearing her big fluffy gown, Manju even had her hair and make-up done by Isuru from Kess, with the help of her cousin Ayesha.

It was a go!

Lipton took the couple around the hotel and took some gorgeous shots, but when it came to photographing them against a black background, Lipton got truly excited. Jeshan and Manju had started acting up – Jeshan showing off his skills at martial arts, kicking high, doing the splits, and having fun! Lipton captured it all!

Super Sexy Sri Lanka Wedding! WOW!

I knew from the beginning that this wedding was going to be fun! The couple, Milan and Shenzie, and Lipton and I hit it right off. They wanted a fabulous pre-wedding video and Lipton was full of fabulous ideas. Theirs was a match made in Heaven and we fit right in!

Milan and Lipton put their heads together and came up with a fun script for the pre-wedding video, which was to be played as the couple and the retinue entered the hall. It was a 3-day shoot and the couple and the super wonderful retinue (which included one of our former brides!) had a blast doing it. But I’ll save more of the details on that for when I post the video on Lucy’sBuzz.

Lipton and Team ShadeTree left early for the getting-ready-shots. I arrived at the Jaiq Hilton later, in time to leave with the crew for the wedding ceremony at Scott’s Kirk. The priest right away informed Milan that all photos were to be taken from behind the 2^nd row. He wanted a more religious intimacy for the ceremony, so there were to be no ring photos, or close-ups of the couple. That’s okay, we could deal.

Back at the Jaiq, our video editor and I sat in the ballroom, while he edited the last bit of the pre-wedding video. Little by little the crowd filtered in, along with a photography crew! I was confused. How could there be another photographer there? And the crowd was on the oldish side and yet Shenzie told me their crowd was young…?

I called Lipton. “Do Milan and Shenzi have a band or a DJ?”

There was silence on the phone. “A DJ,” Lipton said.

“I think we’re in the wrong ballroom.” I went next door, where they had finally posted the announcement for whose wedding was happening. Yep. We had been in the wrong ballroom!

I couldn’t stop laughing!

The rest of the night went off without a hitch and for the whole night I couldn’t stop smiling! My cheeks hurt! Everyone was smiling!

The bride and groom were so so gorgeous and the retinue ladies were so so darn sexy. The groomsmen were so so awesome! They were a photographer’s dream!
