Promises! Promises!

In my LucysBuzz entitled Super Sexy Sri Lanka Wedding! WOW! I promised that I would upload the Pre-Wedding video of Milan and Shenzie. So, today is the day!

I also promised some dish about it. Rather than go into the juicy details, I’ll make it short. After several days of shooting the video with the full retinue, the retinue participants changed! Which meant that all those days of shooting were down the drain. A new storyline had to be developed. The couple maintained their cool, reorganised everything (including dresses) and Lipton came up with a new concept for the video. It meant shooting until the last minute and editing also until the last minute. Thanks to Lipton’s organised efforts, and the cool-as-a-cucumber couple, it all worked out!

The video shows everyone getting ready on the wedding day and it was played for the crowd at the Jaiq Hotel. You’ll see the door of the wedding hall in the last frame – that’s when the bride and groom make their grand entrance into the hall!

Super Sexy Sri Lanka Wedding! WOW!

I knew from the beginning that this wedding was going to be fun! The couple, Milan and Shenzie, and Lipton and I hit it right off. They wanted a fabulous pre-wedding video and Lipton was full of fabulous ideas. Theirs was a match made in Heaven and we fit right in!

Milan and Lipton put their heads together and came up with a fun script for the pre-wedding video, which was to be played as the couple and the retinue entered the hall. It was a 3-day shoot and the couple and the super wonderful retinue (which included one of our former brides!) had a blast doing it. But I’ll save more of the details on that for when I post the video on Lucy’sBuzz.

Lipton and Team ShadeTree left early for the getting-ready-shots. I arrived at the Jaiq Hilton later, in time to leave with the crew for the wedding ceremony at Scott’s Kirk. The priest right away informed Milan that all photos were to be taken from behind the 2^nd row. He wanted a more religious intimacy for the ceremony, so there were to be no ring photos, or close-ups of the couple. That’s okay, we could deal.

Back at the Jaiq, our video editor and I sat in the ballroom, while he edited the last bit of the pre-wedding video. Little by little the crowd filtered in, along with a photography crew! I was confused. How could there be another photographer there? And the crowd was on the oldish side and yet Shenzie told me their crowd was young…?

I called Lipton. “Do Milan and Shenzi have a band or a DJ?”

There was silence on the phone. “A DJ,” Lipton said.

“I think we’re in the wrong ballroom.” I went next door, where they had finally posted the announcement for whose wedding was happening. Yep. We had been in the wrong ballroom!

I couldn’t stop laughing!

The rest of the night went off without a hitch and for the whole night I couldn’t stop smiling! My cheeks hurt! Everyone was smiling!

The bride and groom were so so gorgeous and the retinue ladies were so so darn sexy. The groomsmen were so so awesome! They were a photographer’s dream!

Colorful Hindu Wedding and Homecoming! Yea Again for Google!

Isabel and Ravi came to Sri Lanka from Switzerland to have their Hindu wedding in super style. They contacted us through Google! Yea again for Google!

It was a 2-day affair. The first day was the traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, which is always fun because it’s colorful, filled with the music of drums and small trumpets, the hustle of activity on the Hindu wedding stage, the Manavarai, where the priest conducts the traditional ceremony for the bridal couple, and lots of comings and goings of family members.

Their second day event was a full-on Homecoming reception with family and friends; with lighting the oil lamp, cutting the cake, toasts, dancing and lots of fun!

Super Sexy Swimsuit Model Shoot!

I received an email on Saturday requesting us to do a shoot for two European swimsuit models staying down in Weligama as they travel around SE Asia. They wanted the shoot to happen the next day, Sunday, or Monday at the latest as they were leaving Sri Lanka on Tuesday. How’s that for short notice!

They found us on Google. Yea! for Google and for doing business over the internet!

After several emails back and forth, we worked out a time on Monday (as Lipton was busy with an all-day shoot on Sunday) and the price of the shoot. Everyone was happy. Lipton had a wedding video shoot to do on Monday evening and I knew he’d be tired working from 6:30am until Midnight, but I saw pictures of the models on the covers of Playboy Germany and I knew he would love taking their photos!

You look at the photos he took and tell me if you think he loved doing the shoot!

Spoiler alert: This is a swimsuit shoot! With bikini models! Oh, and some yoga shots...
