Flowers Galore!

Yesterday, Saturday, I went to the Farmers’ Market, located at Water’s Edge. I love Farmers’ Markets. When I lived in California, I went to the Farmers’ Market every Friday. It got so I knew who grew organic veggies and fruit, and I came to know many of the farmers by name. So much nicer than going to the grocery store! This market, though, has mostly plants – like a huge plant nursery!

I went with Lipton and two of his female friends. As soon as we got there, the sky dumped a torrent of rain on us. We took refuge under one of the marques. As usual, a rain-burst in Sri Lanka only lasts a short time and soon I was out looking for the exact flowers for my garden. A sweet, short rainbow helped guide my way.

My garden is lovely, but full of green with just a small a dab of color. I want to see some big splashes of color and so I was drawn to some cheerful zinnias. I love zinnias. My mother had a coffee can full of zinnia seeds when we built the house I grew up in. She tossed the entire can to the wind out in the back of the house. Eventually the hillside was a blast of color. I loved her carefree gardening. I’m not so carefree, but I do love colors as she did.

So, arms loaded with new zinnia plants, we brought them home where they await the ‘perfect’ spot to be planted!

Yellow is such a cheerful colour!

Love these pink ones!

Flat as a Pancake!

Do you think we need new tires?

This tire exploded at the gate of our house! Convenient, eh? So happens that Lipton was on his way to get 4 new tires. Yes, on his way!

He's had to change 3 flats in the last two weeks, hence the need for a full set. We go through tires like crazy with all the pot holes and nails here and there and just the plain bad condition of the roads here in Sri Lanka.

Fun stuff, eh?

This 2nd-hand one is uber super bald!

Toby, always there for support!

Pre Wedding Shoot at the Beach!

We used to call ‘pre wedding shoots’ Romantic Shoots, but most Sri Lankan photographers stuck to the unimaginative title of ‘pre wedding shoots’ (PWS) and so we changed our creative Romantic Shoots, to match the majority.

Lipton took this PWS yesterday at Mount Lavinia beach and if it’s not romantic, I’ll eat my camera!

Note: Of course, I’m withholding the most romantic images as per the couples’ request. But you can get the idea from these below!

Wedding with VIP Guests!

We here at ShadeTree Productions are blessed with a good team. When Lipton and I were both to sick to shoot the upcoming wedding, we had our teammates take over.

This Muslim wedding was a segregated affair, with the women on one side and the men partitioned off on the other side. Which means that only our female photographer could shoot where all the action is; on the women’s side.

Lakna, my 2nd shooter had to step up to 1st shooter. Her first time as 1st shooter. And she did a fine job. A very fine job – as I knew she would. And Nuwan took over the men’s side and got the important shots of the VIPs!

Enjoy the work Team ShadeTree did for this great wedding!

Mehindi

Bride's initials. I've heard that the Mehindi artist is
so good at hiding the initials, and that before any
hanky panky can happen on the wedding night that
the groom has to find the hidden initials! But that's
just what I've heard. Not the case in every wedding!

Even the feet have been Mehindi'd.
